La Mirada man arrested after Buena Park police chase

LA MIRADA — Police and sheriff’s deputies arrested a La Mirada man Tuesday after he rammed into a motorcycle officer in Buena Park, then led officials on a chase that ended in a crash near Biola University, authorities said.
Jeremy Cass, 25, was booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and assault on a police officer, Buena Park police Cpl. Andy Luong said.
The incident began just before 6:50 p.m. when a Buena Park officer pulled Cass over for driving erratically in a pickup truck at Beach and Artesia boulevards, Buena Park police Cpl. Andy Luong said.
Cass initially pulled over for the officer, but then accelerated, striking him, the corporal said.
The officer ordered Cass to stop, but he continued, bumping the officer a second time, Luong said. The officer suffered minor injuries.
Cass then led police on a pursuit to La Mirada, which ended when officers employed a PIT maneuver to stop the pickup truck at San Esteban Drive and Castellon Drive, just southwest of Biola University, according to Buena Park police and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials.
Officials then arrested Cass without a further struggle, Luong said.
According to county booking records, Cass was being held without bail pending his arraignment Thursday in Santa Ana Superior Court.
