Two men killed in Whittier crash

WHITTIER — A driver and his passenger died when their car hit a curb, a control box and a traffic signal on Friday.
The fatal crash happened at 2:18 a.m. on Telegraph Road, west of Mills Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Ford Mustang was heading west on Telegraph Road approaching Mills Avenue when it hit a curb. The Mustang veered out of control. The right side struck a control box for a traffic signal and the traffic signal on the northwest corner of the intersection.
The driver, 19-year-old David Anthony Darocha, and his passenger, 21-year-old Michael Thomas Zuniga, both of Whittier, were killed.
The CHP shut down the westbound lanes of Telegraph Road at Mills Avenue for about three hours as a result of the crash.
