Failed robbery reported at West Covina KFC

<USDEFAULT>WEST COVINA — A would-be robber fled empty-handed after trying to rob a fast-food restaurant Wednesday, police said.
The crime took place about 4:45 p.m. at KFC, 2301 S. Azusa Ave., according to West Covina police Lt. Marty Sevilla.
After entering the business and ordering food, a man lifted his shirt to display a handgun ticked into his waistband, the lieutenant said.
The robber told the employee, “‘This is a robbery, don’t run,'” Sevilla said.
The worker ignored the robbers order, however, and fled out the back door of the business, police said. The robber then also ran off empty-handed.
Police described the gunman as a black man in his late-20s, unshaven and of thin build. He wore a black and white beanie, sunglasses, a multi-colored long-sleeved shirt and black sweat pants.
Anyone with information was asked to call West Covina police at 626-939-8500.
