UPDATE: Elderly Diamond Bar man dies following domestic violence arrest

A 74-year-old Diamond Bar man died at a hospital Wednesday after complaining of chest pains after being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, authorities said.
Hugh McNie was prounounced dead at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said. An autopsy was pending to determine exactly how he died, he said, however initial indications pointed toward a natural death.
Deputies arrested McNie just after midnight Wednesday on suspicion of domestic battery and brought him to the sheriff’s Walnut-Diamond Bar Station for booking, according to county booking records.
“During the booking process, the inmate complained of chest pain and was transported to a local hospital by paramedics,” Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff’s Headquarter’s Bureau said.
The elderly inmate was first taken to San Dimas Hospital, then sent to Pomona Valley Medical Center where he died Wednesday afternoon, Winter said.
