Fire scorches unit in Pasadena senior citizens’ apartment complex

PASADENA — An early-morning fire at a senior citizens’ apartment building caused about $250,000 worth of damage Sunday, but injured no one, authorities said.
Firefighters responded just before 1 a.m. to a report of a fire at the Pilgrim Tower North, 560 E. Villa Street, Pasadena Fire Department officials said in a written statement.
Firefighters found that a fire had ignited in the bedroom of an apartment, but was prevented from spreading by a fire sprinkler, officials said.
The fire caused about $200,000 in damage to the building and $50,000 in damage to the contents of the apartment, however no injuries were reported.
The resident of the involved apartment made arrangements to stay with family, and no other neighbors were displaced, fire officials said.
