El Monte chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting patient

EL MONTE — A 50-year-old El Monte-based chiropractor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman during an office visit nearly a year ago after DNA evidence tied him to the crime, police said Thursday.
Marwan Loutfi Chahayed of Tarzana was arrested Wednesday after turning himself in at the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station and was released from jail Thursday after posting $125,000 bail, according to El Monte police investigators and county booking records.
The alleged sexual assault took place on May 24 of last year, at Chahayed’s office in the 11200 block of Valley Boulevard, El Monte police Detective Ralph Batres said.
Chahayed was charged with felony counts of sexual battery by restraint and sexual penetration by a foreign object.
Police have been investigating the allegation for many months, but were awaiting the results of DNA analysis before making the arrest, Batres said.
Chahayed’s initial court date was not available late Thursday.
