UPDATE: Fire reported at La Mirada motel

LA HABRA — A fire on the top floor of a three-story motel sent four resident to the hospital with smoke inhalation Sunday, officials said.
The blaze was first reported at 2:51 p.m. at the Sunset Inn, 1001 S. Beach Blvd., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters.
The initial firefighters at the scene called for re-enforcements after arriving and finding smoke and fire coming from the top of the motel, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 30 minutes, Peters said.
Four residents of the motel — all believed to be adults — were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, Peters said. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
A La Habra police officer also complained of either smoke inhalation or chest pain, but was not hospitalized, he added.

The fire mainly scorched on unit in the motel, however more than 15 people were displaced due to the incident, officials said. The Red Cross was summoned to help the residents find other lodgings.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
