ALHAMBRA — Officials are investigating the death of a man as a suicide after his body was found Sunday beneath an Atlantic Boulevard overpass over a set of train tracks, police said.

A passer-by called 9-1-1 just before 7 a.m. to report seeing an unconscious man lying near the train tracks beneath the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Mission Road, estimated to be slightly more than 30 feet above, Alhambra police Sgt. Kean Oda said.

Officials pronounced the man dead at the scene, the sergeant said.

The investigation was ongoing, and an official cause of death will be determined through a coroner’s autopsy, however it initially appeared the man jumped from the overpass in a suicide, Oda said.

There were no signs of foul play early Sunday, he said.

Though the identity of the man was not available, Oda said the body was not that of missing 35-year-old FBI agent Stephen Ivens, who has been sought by colleagues and family members since he went missing, along with his handgun, from his Burbank home late Thursday. The agent was described as despondent and possibly suicidal.
