POMONA — An 18-year-old Pomona man died late Tuesday at the scene of what investigators labeled a gang-related shooting.
Paramedics pronounced Jonathan Marquez dead by paramedics shortly 18 minutes after the 11:15 p.m. shooting in the 600 block of Davidson Lane, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said.
No description of the shooter was available, however the attack was believed to be gang-related, Pomona police Sgt. Duane Leonard said.
Officers first responded to a report of gunshots in the area when they discovered the gravely wounded man, he said.
The initial investigation indicated that the attacker approached Marquez on foot before opening fire, striking him multiple times, the sergeant said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Pomona police homicide detectives Bebon or Lange at 909-620-2095.
