Covina man seriously injured in Azusa skateboard crash

AZUSA — A young man suffered serious injuries late Tuesday after falling from his skateboard while riding down a steep stretch of road, officials said.
Police received a call of an “injured an unresponsive” skateboarder about 11:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Azusa Veterans Way, Azusa police Sgt. Xavier Torres said.
“The subject was a 21 year old Covina resident who had been skateboarding down Azusa Veterans Way at a high rate of speed,” Torres said. “He fell off his skateboard and landed on the street.”
The young man apparently suffered serious injuries including serious head trauma, the sergeant said.
Rescuers took him to Los Angeles Count-USC Medical Center for treatment. An update on his condition was not available Wednesday.
