Free “hands-only” CPR class to be offered in West Covina

WEST COVINA — Firefighters, county officials and the American Heart Association are teaming up to offer a free “hands-only” CPR class next month in observance of National CPR week.
The CPR training will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on June 7, at the Westfield West Covina shopping mall, 112 Plaza Drive, city officials said in a written statement.
Those who take part will learn the technique for hands-only CPR and have an opportunity to practice on mannequins.
While participants will not be CPR certified in the course, organizers said, information on how to become certified will be available.
“Effective bystander CPR provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival,” the statement said.
