Glendora man killed in apparent tree trimming accident identified

GLENDORA — Coroner’s officials have reased the name of a 35-year-old Glendora man who died Saturday in an apparent accident while trimming a tall palm tree.
Roberto Garcia died in what is being investigated as an industrial accident about 4:50 p.m. in the 200 block of West Bennett Avenue, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s officials said.
Though an autopsy to determined Garcia’s officials cause of death was yet to be carried out, Glendora police and Los Angeles County Fire officials said it initially appeared he had been working about 30 feet up in the tree when a group fronds fell on him, crushing or suffocating him.
Firefighters responding to reports of a man stuck in a tree and yelling for help cut the man free from the tree and pronounced him dead at the scene.
