Woman sought on suspicion of carjacking motor home in Whittier

WHITTIER — Police sought a woman Sunday on suspicion of carjacking an acquaintances motor home, injuring the owner in the process, before crashing into parked cars and other objects and ditching the large vehicle several blocks away, authorities said.
The incident was reported about 3:10 p.m. in the 8500 block of Painter Avenue, to the rear of the Big Lots store, Whittier police Sgt. Jason Zhulke said.
A owner was with the woman in his motor home when she suddenly decided to take the vehicle, the sergeant said.
Over the man’s objections, she started the motor home and quickly accelerated, causing the man to fall out of the motor home, Zhulke said. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The woman continued driving and struck several parked cars and other objects before abandoning the motor home several blocks away, he said. Police suspect she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The name of the woman, who is in her 30s, was not released Sunday, though police believed they knew her identity and planned to make an arrest.
