Whittier man accused of trying to kill wife appears in court

WHITTIER — judge ruled Wednesday that a Whittier man will stand trial on suspicion of trying to strangle his wife with an extension court last month
William Farrell, 43, appeared in Whittier Superior Court for a preliminary hearing, where a judge determined there was sufficient evidence to hold him for trial, court officials said.
He’s due in Norwalk Superior Court June 27 for a hearing in his case, officials added.
Farrell is charged with attempted murder, corporal injury to a spouse, assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury in connection with the May 30 attack at in the 10900 block of 1st Avenue, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said.
Farrell’s wife reported to police that her husband had choked her with an extension cord until she passed out.
According to county booking records, Farrell was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail pending trial.
