Alhambra man arrested after car chase, crash

ALHAMBRA — An Alhambra man was injured Friday when he crashed his car while fleeing from police, authorities said.
The incident began about 8:40 a.m. in the area of Mission Road and Fremont Avenue, Alhambra police Lt. Jennifer Wiese said.
An officer tried to stop a 2004 Mazda RX-8 for tailgating, she said, but the driver failed to pull over.
The car led officers on a brief chase at high speeds before crashing into a curb at Meridian Avenue and Mimosa Street, less than two miles away, Wiese said.
The driver, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash and arrested on suspicion of felony evading police, she said. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Wiese added that the man also had a suspended driver’s license.
