Trial date set in state assemblyman’s DUI case

WALNUT CREEK — Officials Wednesday set an August trial date in the drunken driving case against state Assemblyman Roger Hernandez.
Hernandez, D-West Covina, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he was detained by Concord police in a state-owned car in the parking lot of a hotel March 27.
Following a pre-trial hearing Wednesday in Walnut Creek Superior Court, officials scheduled a trial date of Aug. 7, Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Bobbi Spinola said.
Blood tests indicated Hernandez had a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent, which qualifies as legally intoxicated under state law, officials said.
