Santa Fe Springs man killed in Whittier motorcycle crash identified

WHITTIER — Authorities have released the name of a 32-year-old Santa Fe Springs man who died Tuesday in a motorcycle crash on Hadley Street.
Michael Hernandez was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the 11:34 a.m. collision at Hadley Street and Citrus Avenue, according to Whittier police and Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s officials.
“A motorcycle traveling eastbound on Hadley Street rear-ended a pickup truck that had slowed down,” Whittier police officials said in a written statement.
“The collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike,” the statement said. “The motorcyclist landed in the number one lane of westbound Hadley Street, were he was struck in the head by a vehicle traveling westbound on Hadley Street.”
Police and paramedics treated Hernandez at the scene and took him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later, police said.
The cause of the crash was being investigated by Whittier Police Department traffic investigators.
