Detectives probe elderly man’s death in Rowland Heights

ROWLAND HEIGHTS — Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of an elderly man Saturday in Rowland Heights.
The man was listed as a John Doe Sunday at the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner, Investigator Jerry McKibben said.
The death was reported at 3:39 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of Pepperdale Drive, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.
Coroner’s officials did not initially receive word that foul play was suspected in the death, however an investigation was ongoing, and an autopsy yet to be performed, McKibben said.
Initial reports indicated the man was found dead inside of a home, and may have been dead for “some time,” McKibben said.
The man’s wife had been living in the home, officials said, though it was not clear whether she was capable of understanding what had transpired.
No further information was available.
