Gunmen carry out robbery at West Covina credit union

WEST COVINA — Two gunman forced their way into a bank vault Thursday during a takeover robbery, authorities said.
The crime took place about 11:20 a.m. at the First Financial Credit Union on Workman Avenue, just east of Citrus Street, West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez said.
Two robber armed with handguns entered the bank and ordered the employees and customers to the floor, Lopez said.
“They ordered a manager to open the vault,” he said.
The men fled with a “large, undetermined amount of cash,” the corporal said.
Police initially described the robbers only as black men with hoods or masks covering their faces.
Investigators received differing statements from witnesses regarding the vehicle the robbers fled in, Lopez said.
FBI agents were assisting West Covina police in the investigation, he added.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the West Covina Police Department at 626-939-8500.
