CHP plans checkpoint in unincorporated Covina

COVINA — California Highway Patrol officials are planning a checkpoint Saturday in an unincorporated county area near Covina.
The checkpoint will target intoxicated drivers and will begin at 6 p.m. at an undisclosed location, CHP officials said in a written statement.
Traffic permitting, officials said, officers will check all vehicles that pass through the checkpoint, according to the statement. If traffic becomes too heavy, officers will screen drivers based on a pre-determined formula, such as every third car or every fifth car.
