Worker killed in Arcadia tree trimming accident identified as Azusa man

ARCADIA — Authorities have identified a tree trimmer killed when he apparently cut into a power line over the weekend as a 35-year-old Azusa man.
Constancio Hernandez-Romero was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which took place just before 11 a.m. Saturday as he was working about 20 feet up in a palm tree in a residential yard in the 1400 block of Orlando Drive, according to Los Angeles County Department of Coroner and Arcadia police officials.
He apparently cut into a power line while trimming the large tree, coroner’s Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said.
Fire officials arrived to find the tree on fire, with Hernandez-Romero still trapped up in it. Within moments of firefighters’ arrival, the fire burned through his safety harnesses and he fell to the ground.
An autopsy had been performed, Winter said, however Hernandez-Romero’s cause of death was deferred pending the result of further tests.
