Police: Pasadena transient arrested with stolen gun

PASADENA — Police arrested a homeless ex-convict after he was found carrying a stolen handgun on Summit Avenue early Thursday, authorities said.
Officers responded to a report of a possible burglary or vandalism in progress about 12:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of North Summit Avenue when they came upon William Davis, who began walking away from them and refused orders to stop, Pasadena police officials said in a written statement.
The officers then noticed the 25-year-old transient was carrying a handgun and trying to hide it under his jacket, officials said.
Police ordered Davis to the drop the weapon, and he complied, police added. He was arrested without further incident.
Investigation then revealed that the 9mm pistol Davis was carrying had been reported stolen, officials said. Davis is a convicted felon, and is barred from possessing a gun.
Davis was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail pending his initial court appearance, according to county booking records.
