Man killed, teen injured in fall at Eaton Canyon

ALTADENA — A hiker fell 125 feet and was killed while a second hiker was injured in separate incidents in Eaton Canyon Wednesday night.
Authorities haven’t released the name of the dead hiker but described him as being 19.
The fatal fall occurred at 6:11 p.m.
Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department, said the hiker sustained traumatic injuries to the head, chest and extremities. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:40 p.m.
She said he was hiking with friends.
Pasadena firefighters, the Altadena Search and Rescue team and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to this incident.
The other fall happened earlier, around 5 p.m., by the first waterfall.
Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Joe Graystone said a 16-year-old boy injured an ankle and sustained multiple contusions and abrasions after he fell and hit the bottom.
Graystone said the teen started walking out of the canyon. The search team looked for him.
He was found and taken to a hospital.
