NORWALK — The pursuit of a carjacked pickup truck Wednesday ended in a crash on Alondra Boulevard, authorities said.
Ricky Navarro Ramirez, 23, of Norwalk was booked on suspicion of auto theft, receiving stolen property and evading police following the 5 p.m. chase and crash at Alondra Boulevard and Elaine Avenue, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Dana Chemnitzer.
Ramirez was also being investigated on suspicion of carjacking the stolen pickup truck, as well as at least two additional carjackings in the Norwalk and Artesia areas, officials said.
Deputies spotted Ramirez driving a pickup truck that had been reported stolen Sunday in an armed carjacking in Cerritos, Chemnitzer said in a written statement.
A brief pursuit began, before Ramirez ran a stop sign at Elaine Avenue and Alondra Boulevard and crashed into a car and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, Lt. Bill Evans said.
The driver of the car was treated after complaining of pain, while the driver of the Toyota truck was not injured, Evans said.
Ramirez was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending a scheduled arraignment Friday in Bellflower Superior Court.
