Carjacking reported in Covina

COVINA – A man sporting tattoos on his shaved head stole a car at gunpoint from a driver early Thursday.

Covina Police Sgt. Gregg Peterson said the driver and his passenger weren’t injured during the 4:50 a.m. carjacking in the 700 block of East Workman Avenue.

The driver, a Claremont resident, was dropping off a co-worker when an armed man walked up to the driver’s side of the car and confronted them.

Peterson said the suspect asked the two men where they were from. He also ordered them out of the car and told them to run. They complied.

The robber took the victim’s 2007 Chrysler 300 with the license plate number 6WDB929, according to Peterson. He described the car as purple but the victim’s girlfriend said it was red.

The suspect was described as a Latino, 18 to 25, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 150 to 160 pounds. He has a mustache and tattoos on his shaved head. He wore a blue baseball cap, a black T-shirt and black shorts.
