Authorities Sunday identified four members of a La Puente family killed last week after their SUV had a tire blowout and tumbled off the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock.
Veronica Ramirez, 38, her husband Salvador Ramirez, 40, and their daughter Jackelyn Ramirez, 11, died at the scene of the Aug. 12 crash on the freeway near Figueroa Street in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said. Salvador Ramirez’s father, Rafael Ramirez-Rodriguez, died at a hospital shortly after the crash.
Two girls, ages 6 and 15, were reportedly ejected from the SUV and and hospitalized with serious injuries.
The crash took place about 6:50 p.m. on the southbound 134 Freeway, according to the CHP.
Witnesses reported that the SUV appeared to have experienced a tire blowout before tumbling over the side of the roadway and hitting the roadway 36 feet below, officials said.
The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
