UPDATED: Stabbing reported at Bassett High School

LA PUENTE — A student stabbed another student Wednesday during a fight in front of Bassett High School, officials said.
Deputies responded to the high school, 755 Ardilla Avenue, about 3 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Raymond Enriquez said.
A 16-year-old boy had become involved in a fight in front of the campus with another 17-year-old student, the lieutenant said.
Following the fight, the 16-year-old boy realized he’d been stabbed in the face, neck and chest, Enriquez said. Rescuers took the boy to a trauma center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The identity of the teenage attacker was known, however he remained at large Wednesday afternoon, Enriquez said.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the assailant was Latino, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds, wearing a black and white flannel shirt and khaki shorts.
Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff’s Industry Station at 626-330-3322.
