Zero DUI arrests at Whittier checkpoint

WHITTIER — Police screened more than 1,200 vehicles at a Whittier Boulevard police checkpoint late Friday into early Saturday, resulting in no arrests, authorities said.
The checkpoint was held on westbound Whittier Boulevard at Mills Avenue, Whittier police Lt. Randy Inman said.
From the 1,216 cars that were screened at the intersection, three drivers were given sobriety tests but none arrested for driving under the influence, Inman said.
Officers wrote 18 tickets and impounded two vehicles during the checkpoint, he said.
