A driver who tried to rob a jogger of his iPhone fled empty-handed when his victim fought him off.
Glendora Police Sgt. Matt Williams said an 18-year-old man was jogging on Sierra Madre Avenue about 6 p.m. when an older model white Toyota van stopped nearby.
The driver got out and asked the jogger for the time.
Williams said the driver then grabbed the jogger’s arm and demanded his iPhone.
The jogger was pushed to the ground. A struggle ensued which the robber lost.
The suspect returned to his van and took off. He was described as a 35-year-old Latino. Police said he was holding a piece of paper to his face at one point.
The victim sustained bruises on his arm.
