ONTARIO – Five young men died early Sunday in a single-car rollover crash, authorities said.
The names of the dead men were not released, however Ontario Fire Department Capt. Scot Roeber said all five appeared to men in their early 20s. Their relationship to one another was unclear.
The crash took place about 1:40 a.m. on Haven Avenue, just south of Creekside Drive, Ontario police Sgt. Michael Caldera said in a written statement.
Rescuers pronounced four of the men dead at the scene and transported the fifth to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later, Caldera said.
“Preliminary investigation revealed the 2005 Nissan Sentra was southbound on Haven Avenue and failed to stop for the red light,” the sergeant said. “The Nissan lost control, then hit a wall along the west side of Haven Avenue and came to rest in the rear yard of a house.”
No one at the home was injured, officials added.
The crash remained under investigation by Ontario police traffic investigators.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Steve Hurst at 909-395-2902.
