Officials issue severe thunderstorm warning for central Los Angeles County

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning Sunday through 5:45 p.m.
The warning was issued after NWS radar indicated at 4:39 p.m. that a “severe thunderstorm capable of producing nickel-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph,” was making it’s way toward central Los Angeles County, according to the NWS warning.
“This is a dangerous storm,” the warning cautioned. “If you are in it’s path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud-to-ground lightening. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
