WHITTIER — A man reported being robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday in front of John F. Kennedy Park in Whittier, police said.
The victim, a local man in his late-30s, called police shortly after 6 a.m. from a business at the nearby Quad at Whittier shopping center to report the crime, Whittier police Lt. Steve Dean said.
He was walking in the 8500 block of Painter Avenue, in front of the park, when he was approached by a man and woman, the lieutenant said.
He told police the man and woman grabbed him, and the male robber pressed a handgun against his ribs while demanding his money, Dean said.
The robbers took the man’s wallet, containing several hundred dollars, released him and fled, officials said.
Police described one of the robbers as a Latino man in his late-30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds, with a mustache. His accomplice was a Latino woman of unknown age, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, of heavy build, with black hair and a tattoo over her left breast.
