LOS ANGELES — A Montebello Bus Lines bus went over the side of a freeway onramp bridge early Friday, authorities said.
The crash took place just before 8 a.m. on the 5th Street onramp to the northbound 110 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
The bus apparently contained no passengers, and the driver was not significantly injured, CHP Officer Monica Posada said.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Cecil Manresa said the bus tumbled off the roadway and landed on it’s side.
Manresa says the bus was parked and its brakes gave out.
Montebello Bus Lines officials confirmed the driver appeared to be okay, but said further information was not immediately available as investigators remained at the scene.
The CHP issued a Sig Alert on the northbound 110 Freeway at 3rd street following the crash.
