Woman wounded in leg in Whittier shooting

WHITTIER — A woman was wounded in the leg with a shotgun Sunday during an apparently gang-related argument between two men, police said.
The shooting occurred about 1:25 p.m. as two men were arguing in a residential neighborhood in the 11600 block of Broadway, just east of Palm Avenue, Whittier police Lt. Jay Tatman said. Gang-related language was heard.
One of the men fired a blast from a shotgun, striking the 30-year-old woman in the leg, Tatman said. The injury was not believed to be severe.
It was not clear if the wounded woman had been involved in the altercation, or was merely a bystander.
Both of the men were gone when police arrived, the lieutenant said. Descriptions were not available late Sunday.
