Deputies find pounds of pot while searching for domestic violence suspect in Pico Rivera

PICO RIVERA — A domestic violence investigation led deputies to discover about $5,000 worth of marijuana and concentrated marijuana paste, authorities said.
A 19-year-woman called deputies Thursday morning to report her 32-year-old boyfriend had struck her several times, inflicting minor injuries, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Miguel Mejia. The suspect was no longer there when deputies arrived.
When deputies went to the suspect’s house in the 9500 block of Banat Road, where his mother allowed them in, the sergeant said.
The domestic violence suspect they had been seeking was not at the home, however deputies did discover several pounds of marijuana hidden in boxes, along with concentrated marijuana paste, officials said.
The seized pot is worth an estimated $5,000 on the street, Mejia added.

The suspect had not been found early Friday, sheriff’s officials said. His name was not released as the search continued.
