Safe containing $100,000 worth of goods stolen from Pasadena home

PASADENA — A burglar or burglars escaped with a safe containing about $100,000 worth of jewels and other valuables in a break-in at a Linda Vista Avenue home earlier this week, police said.
Residents discovered the burglary in the 1800 block of Linda Vista Street about 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Pasadena police Lt. Diego Torres said.
It appeared the intruder or intruders accessed the house via an unlocked window, the lieutenant added.
A similar crime was reported to the south in Pico Rivera Friday, authorities said.
According to Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Meyer, a resident of the 9500 block of Woodford Street discovered about 3 p.m. Friday that his home had been burglarized and a safe containing $20,000 in cash and a gun had been stolen.
