Officials: deadly Pasadena fire intentionally set; suspect jailed

PASADENA — Authorities arrested a man early Friday in connection with an explosive fire that killed two people and critically injured a third at a boarding house after determining the fire had been intentionally set, officials said.
The name of the suspect and the crimes he was booked on suspicion of were not immediately available.
“The investigation showed that it was an intentionally set fire and led to the arrest of this one individual,” Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
Further details were not available.
The fire, which ignited about 2:15 a.m. at a boarding home in the 1300 block of El Sereno Avenue, officials said.
Two men, initially described as being in their 60s and 70s, died in the fire, while a third man was listed in critical condition at a burn center, according to fire and coroner’s officials.
In addition to those killed and hurt in the fire, 16 other men who lived at the home were displaced, Derderian said.
