One killed, two jailed in Covina shooting

Officers responding Tuesday to a call about a shooting found a dead man in an apartment and later arrested two men.
Covina police don’t know yet the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting in the 300 block of North Prospero Drive. The victim’s name wasn’t released pending notification of his next of kin.
A man called Covina Police at 4:14 p.m. and said he accidentally shot someone, Sgt. Gregg Peterson said.
Inside the apartment, police saw a Latino man in his early 20s with a gunshot wound. Peterson said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and a firearm was recovered at the residence.
The man who called police was also in the apartment along with another man.
Peterson said Oswaldo Cibrian, 25, of Covina and Juan Vasquez, 19, of Madras, Oregon were arrested for investigation of murder.
Cibrian and Vasquez were being held at Covina jail on $1 million bail each. They will be arraigned Thursday at West Covina Superior Court.
