Man arrested in connection with roommate’s shooting in Whittier released without charges

WHITTIER — A man arrested on suspicion of shooting his roommate in both arms during an argument earlier this week was released from jail without charges Thursday pending further investigation, officials said.
Police arrested Christopher Perez, 31, on suspicion of attempted murder following the 4:20 a.m. shooting at a house in the 10700 block of Jordan Road, according to Whittier police Officer Brad White.
Authorities said he fired numerous rounds at his roommate, striking him in the left arm and right wrist.
But prior to his scheduled arraignment Thursday in Whittier Superior Court, district attorney’s officials determined not to file charges pending further investigation, court officials said.
Further details were not available late Thursday.
