Whittier brothers injured in solo-car crash

A 16-year-old Whittier boy and his 17-year-old brother were injured when their car struck a brick planter Friday afternoon.

Both are La Serna High School students, Whittier police Lt. Randy Inman said.

The solo crash in the 16000 block of La Lindura Drive happened at 3:40 p.m.

Inman said the driver apparently lost control of the car and hit the planter. He added that the 16-year-old was knocked unconscious during the crash.

Los Angeles County firefighters said the younger teen was conscious and out of the car when they got there. Firefighters said the two teens sustained minor injuries.

Due to the damage to the car, they decided to take the 16-year-old by helicopter to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center while his 17-year-old brother was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, Inman said.
