Two hurt when chase ends in collision in El Monte

A man driving a stolen car tried to flee from police but crashed into another vehicle Tuesday night.
He was arrested. El Monte police Lt. David Vautrin said the man’s passenger and the driver of the other car complained of pain.
It started at 11:07 p.m. on Valley Boulevard and Tyler Avenue. Vautrin said the driver of a maroon Honda failed to yield.
The chase lasted a couple of minutes and ended when the Honda collided with a white Nissan at Garvey Avenue and Mountain View Road.
Vautrin said the Honda’s passenger was taken to Greater El Monte Community Hospital. The driver of the Nissan was treated at the scene but declined to go to a hospital, he added.
The Honda was stolen out of Riverside, the lieutenant said.
The suspect’s name and age weren’t available since he hadn’t been booked yet.
