El Monte man’s cause of death remains unknown

EL MONTE — The investigation into the death of a man found fatally stabbed inside his Valley Boulevard home hinged Wednesday on coroner’s finding, investigators said.
The name of the man was not known Wednesday, Lt. Fred Corrall of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said. Sheriff’s officials initially described him as appearing to be in his 30s.
A neighbor went to check on the man just before 10 p.m. Monday when he discovered him dead, Sgt. Joe Ramirez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said.
The man had stab wounds to his “upper torso,” and a knife was found next to the body, Ramirez said.
There were no signs of forced entry into the man’s home, and nothing was believed to have been stolen, the sergeant added.
Pending an autopsy, Ramirez said, investigators could not rule out either homicide or suicide.
