PASADENA — Police arrested 24 people during Saturday’s football game at the Rose Bowl between UCLA and USC.
Officers made 18 arrests for public intoxication, four for interfering with a special event and two for impaired driving, Pasadena police officials said in a written statement.
Attendance at the game was 83,277, according to the statement, and police did not encounter any “major problems” at the Rose Bowl.
Nearby at the department’s heliport in Altadena, however, a police helicopter assigned to work overhead at the Rose Bowl was involved in a crash with another police helicopter assigned to regular patrol duties, Pasadena Police Lt. Phlunte Riddle said.
A total of six officers — two in each helicopter and two who were working on the ground — suffered minor injuries in the collision, which inflicted apparently major damage to both helicopters, officials said.
