Exploding ammunition feared to be inside burning Azusa home

AZUSA — Firefighters carefully battled a fire at a home where the sounds of what was believed to be ammunition exploding were heard Thursday.
The blaze was first reported at 2:43 p.m. in the 500 block of North Dalton Avenue, Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters found the building well-involved with flames, and heard popping noises coming from within, officials said.
Fearing the noises may have been due to ammunition stored inside the home detonating, officials added, firefighters used extreme caution as they worked to douse the fire.
