Five displaced by Pasadena house fire

PASADENA — Four adults and one child were displaced by a house fire Friday, officials said.
The fire was first reported just before 10:30 a.m. at a two-story home in the 100 block of Santa Barbara Street, Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
Firefighters found smoke and flames emanating from the second floor of the home, which had been divided from the first floor into a separate unit, she said.
The flames were largely kept contained to the second floor, though the unit beneath sustained smoke and water damage, Derderian said.
Firefighters estimated the fire caused about $175,000 to the home and its contents.
The four adults and one child living there were taken in by extended family, Derderian said. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
