Man injured in Glendora Mountain Road crash

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — Rescuers took a 21-year-old man to a hospital in unknown condition after his car went over the side of Glendora Mountain Road and tumbled more than 100 feet late Wednesday, officials said.
The crash took place just after 11 p.m. near mile marker 7 of the road, about two miles south of Glendora Ridge Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Kerri Rivas.
When officers arrived, there were several good Samaritans standing on the road looking down on the wreckage, Rivas said.
The driver of the sedan managed to get himself out of the car, but could not climb back up to the roadway, officials aid.
A helicopter was used to hoist the injured man out of the canyon and flew him to Los Angeles County-USC for treatment, Rivas said.
He suffered injuries including head trauma and a broken arm, she said. An update on his condition was not available Thursday.
Witnesses reported the car appeared to be traveling at about 35 mph when it went over the side of the road, Rivas said. The investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing and the injured driver was yet to be interviewed.
