Suspect arrested in fatal Norwalk shooting

NORWALK — A suspect was in custody Thursday on suspicion of fatally shooting a 32-year-old Norwalk man last week.
After identifying Andrew Ramos, 28, of Norwalk is accused of murder in connection with the Jan. 2 slaying of Jimmy Hernandez Deleon in the 14000 block of Gard Avenue, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s and coroner’s officials.
Few details were released regarding the shooting, which took place about 4 a.m.
Deleon was taken to an area hospital by private vehicle, which transferred him to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he died a short time later, officials said.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau identified Ramos as a suspect in the killing and obtained a warrant for his arrest, officials said.
“Investigators received information that suspect Ramos was staying in a location on the 1200 block of La Palma Avenue, Anaheim,” Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said. “He was taken into custody without incident.
The motive in the killing was unknown, she said.
According to Los Angeles County booking records, Ramos was being held without bail pending a scheduled arraignment Friday in Bellflower Superior Court.
