UPDATED: Young man struck by car, badly injured while crossing Firestone Blvd. in Norwalk

NORWALK — A 17-year-old boy suffered major injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Firestone Boulevard early Friday, officials said.
The incident was reported about 6:45 a.m. on Firestone Boulevard at Norwalk Boulevard, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Arnold said.
Rescuers took the injured pedestrian, a Norwalk resident, to a hospital in critical condition, the sergeant said.
“He has extensive injuries. We don’t know what the extent is quite yet,” Arnold said.
A 50-year-old woman who was driving the Nissan Maxima that struck the teen cooperated with investigators, and no crime was initially suspected, he said.
