Woman thrown from car in Whittier crash

WHITTIER — Police shut down the intersection of Lambert Road and Greenleaf Avenue early Saturday as they investigated the scene of a crash that sent three people to hospitals, including a woman who was thrown from one of the cars, officials said.
The three-car crash took place just after 7 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Todd Emrick said. The main impact appeared to be between two of the cars, with the third vehicle struck afterward.
A female passenger of one of the cars was thrown from the vehicle in the collision, officials said. The woman, estimated to be in her 20s, was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood with apparently moderate injuries.
The driver of that car, a man in his 40s believed to be the woman’s father, suffered minior injuries, Emrick said.
A man who was driving the second car involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the captain added. No injuries were reported from the third car.
The cause of the crash was being investigated by the Whittier Police Department.
The investigation was ongoing early Saturday, however Lt. Mike Pryzbyl said there was no initial indication the crash involved a crime.
