Numerous Dorner sighting reported throughout Southland; Twin Towers jail placed on lockdown due to report of sighting

Law enforcement in several Southern California cities have been checking out reported sightings of people resembling fugitive Christopher Dorner, but all of the reports, so far, have been unfounded.
A white Lexus spotted in Barstow is not connected to the suspect in a massive manhunt, authorities said this morning.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials were responding to media inquiries that the Lexus was somehow connected to Christopher Dorner.
“It’s all unfounded,” said Jodi Miller.
The Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles went on lockdown, and an area search launched, after a civilian employee reported to her supervisor about 8:45 a.m. that she saw “somebody outside who resembled suspect Dorner,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Steve Whitmore said.
“Out of a preponderance of caution, we locked down the facility as well as the streets in front,” Whitmore said.
Officials continued trying to identify the person the civilian jail employee saw, Whitmore said, but added it was “very possible” it was not Dorner.
Deputies from the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station responded to one reported possible sighting of Dorner Thursday, and another early Friday, Lt. Robert Smith said. Both occurred near the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.
A caller reported seeing a man who resembled Dorner wearing military fatigues and driving a royal blue car about 6:30 a.m. on eastbound Telegraph Road near True Avenue, at the borderline between Pico Rivera and Downey, smith said.
“We checked it out. We looked at (surveillance) video,” Smith said. “We didn’t find anything.”
Another motorist called deputies about 11 a.m. Thursday to report seeing a man who resembled Dorner driving a gray Aspen SUV eastbound on Slauson Avenue near Pioneer Boulevard, Smith said.
Again, deputies investigated but found no signs of Dorner.
El Monte police responded to a report of a possible Dorner sighting about 10 a.m. at Peck Road and Valley Boulevard, Lt. Dan Burlingham said.
“We had a report, it was of a person matching the description with a police-type shirt on walking across the street,” he said.
Upon investigating the report, officers determined the man was a security guard in the area just picking up his lunch.
Deputies at the sheriff’s Temple Station responded to three reports of Dorner sightings Thursday morning, but none Thursday afternoon or Friday morning, Sgt. Lynette O’Brien said. Further details were not available.
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies remained at the Barona Indian Reservation early Friday after someone called to report seeing Dorner at a residence around 10:15 p.m. Thursday. The report appeared to be false.
In Ontario, police received a call about 12:30 a.m. Friday from a hotel guest who claimed to have spotted Dorner.
Deputies in Rancho Cucamonga responded to three or four calls from people who thought they saw Dorner driving on the 210 Freeway between 6 and 7 p.m. Thursday.
A report Dorner possibly driving a white vehicle in the Barstow area Thursday was determined to be unfounded, CHP officials said.
Naval Base point Loma was shut down for several hours beginning about 9 a.m. Thursday after a military member reported seeing Dorner at an on-base hotel. Though it was determined Dorner had been at the hotel Tuesday, but he was not found after an extensive search.
An hour earlier in Long Beach, police briefly shut down the San Diego (405) Freeway at Bellflower Boulevard after receiving a report of a vehicle matching the description of Dorner’s truck. A SWAT team responded to the scene, which was ultimately determined to a be a false alarm.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the region continued taking extra precautions Friday as Dorner remained at-large. A Blue Alert remained in effect.
Officers who normally patrol solo are being placed in two-officer cars at police departments in Los Angeles, Pasadena, South Pasadena and Monrovia, as well as the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, officials said.
And many departments also beefed up patrols at sensitive locations such as schools.
